Our Course Instructors
Dave is the Dean of Students for VTVLC. His work includes supporting student learning by working with students, teachers, parents, counselors and other school support personnel. He works on academic issues relating to student progress, alternative pacing charts, and unique challenges that online learners face. His goal is to minimize barriers and to increase student learning opportunities and successes. Dave comes to VTVLC after 40 years of high school and college teaching with 4 years of online teaching. He holds a Master of Education from Castleton.
Karen is a 2012 Rowland Fellow and an educator at the Danville School. She teaches Latin and Introduction to Online Teaching for VTVLC. At Danville her duties include educational technology support, coordinating both the school’s internal flexible pathways program and the advisory program for grades 9 – 12. Karen is a lifelong learner at Marlboro College Graduate School, EdX, Future Learn, Open2Study, and Coursera. She lives in Saint Johnsbury, Vermont coincidentally one mile from where she was born.
Margaret is an Educational Technology Specialist, a teacher of English, and has earned her Online Teaching Specialist endorsement while teaching with VTVLC. She currently teaches at Hartford High School.
Jessica Leo received a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics and Nutritional Sciences and a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree from The University of Vermont. She has been teaching at Enosburg Falls Middle and High School since 2002. She currently teaches Health Education and Child Development at EFHS as well as Life Management Skills and Online Teaching Tools & Techniques (Methods II) for VTVLC. She lives in Georgia, VT with her husband and two young boys.
Mari started teaching English at Rice Memorial High School in South Burlington in 1996, and at VTVLC in 2011. She wrote the curriculum for the Creative Writing and Analytical Writing about Film courses, adapting both for use online, and was one of the first teachers to earn her OTS endorsement. In addition to these two courses, Mari developed curriculum for Honors Freshman English implementing many recommendations from the College Board Pre-AP program. She currently serves as the Co-Chair of her Local Standards Board for teacher relicensure. Mari holds an MA in curriculum design and literacy.
